All My Love

All My Love

You taught me about love
Now you ask me to forget
So what will I do with the
leftover kisses yearning
to taste your tender lips
Should I save these extra
embraces for a rainy day
Tell me how to erase the
treasured memories you
no longer seem to cherish
Should forever be deleted
from the dictionary since
it suddenly lost its meaning
please before you leave
can you tell me what should
I do with all my love

  1. My heart’s hands hold on you tight
    While lips whisper “forget”.
There’s no one way street when two souls part.
    Each marking line bleeds regret.
So don’t bring erasure to our love.
Keep pouring it in an old sack like wine
Then when appropriate time will come
It will taste nothing but ohh divine.

    – I hope this answers the Chimp’s question. 😊😊

    • Smiling. You are correct. When we experience these break ups, the person left behind doesn’t realize it, but someone better may come along. And I say this from personal experience, but losing my fdaughter’s mother was the best thing that ever happened to me. It led to me finding Allie. Thank you for reading and the kind words. Have a lovely weekend.

  2. Another great poem lonelyauthor,
    Should forever be deleted
    from the dictionary since
it suddenly lost its meaning – awesome lines. Forever is almost a lyrical motif when it comes to the topic of love and yet what does it mean? Sometimes forever can be a year, sometimes a lifetime, but never forever, because in truth it doesnt exist.

  3. So many things about this! Okay the first is I love that pop art especially the one you chose, it goes perfectly with your poem. Secondly the poem is more like a song and it’s really haunting and lovely. Third, it reminds me of the first Kate Bush LP A Kick Inside which had a little known track on it called All The Love and it really is quite alike though I’m sure you have never heard that song. Which proves you are good because Kate Bushes song-writing is poetry in motion. So THAT is a huge compliment! Coming from a huge Kate Bush fan! πŸ˜‰ xo

    • Thank you for your compliments. I will listen to the song on youtube. Thanks for the comparison. To write this poem I had to think back to a time I was dumped. Thanks you for reading and fo your lovely words of praise.

  5. I know it is difficult for someone so sincere, but the one who leaves doesn’t care, therefore it’s better to forget it. As Rashmi said better to give it to someone more deserving.
It is a lovely poem. πŸ™‚

  6. I think most of us have had experiences where things didn’t work out with someone, but in a serious relationship, there isn’t a button we can push to instantly shut off all the emotion and attachment. Humans just don’t work that way. 😦
